Wesley LaDon Lewis, age 78, died on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at his residence.
He served in the U.S. Army for seven years, in law enforcement for 18 years, and served 36 years as self-proprietor.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home Chapel in Demopolis with the Rev. Ed Pickel officiating Interment will follow in Lamkin Memorial Cemetery in Bellamy with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors directing the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny Wesley Lewis and Mettie Mae Halstead; one sister, Louise Pittman; four brothers, James W. Lewis, Edward E. Lewis, Robert E. Lewis and Joe A. Lewis; and one son, Milton T. Grant.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Flora M. Lewis of Bellamy; three daughters, Sheila (Donald) Gray of Section and Sue (Donnie) Sikes and Donna (Wade) Turner, both of Bellamy; one son, Donnie K. (Dorenda) Lewis of Alexander City; two grand-daughters, Monica (Greg) Bailey and Michelle Gray; four grandsons, Shane Gray, Justin (Megan) Lewis, Jeremy (Michelle) Sullivan and Chris (Mariah) Sullivan; four great-grandsons, Josh Bailey, Adrian Bailey, Holden Sullivan, and Wesley Lewis; one great-granddaughter, Payton Sullivan; four brothers, Sonny L. (Ruby) Lewis of Bellamy, Lester F. (Mary Jo) Lewis of Ringo, Ga., Chester L. Lewis of Dothan and Lonnie G. Lewis of Wagner, Okla.; and five sisters, Betty (Jack) Shinn of Dumas, Ark., and Carolyn (Bobby) Brackin, Dorothy Wilson, Denolda Huey and Donna Lewis, all of Dothan.
Pallbearers will be Randy Lewis, Roosevelt Giles, Jonathan Benison, Darrell Brown, Richard Pittman and Heath Heaton.
