Genesis Rehab has been at its new location on U.S. Highway 80 next to the Fitz-Gerald Clinic for just two weeks, bigger and better than its previous location.

“We had been over at the other place for four years,” said clinic director Skibo Holman. “We just outgrew it. I thought we’d be there forever, but this location came available.”

The new location, at 6,000 square feet compared to the previous location’s 1,400, allowed Genesis to begin some new programs.

“We started some balance programs, where you need more room to make it work,” he said. “In the last two weeks, we’ve already seen some of the opportunities of what we can do. We’ve added another therapist, April Hecker, who is a neurological therapist.”

Hecker and Kelly Epting, along with Holman, form the staff of therapists who help people experience muscular or nerve pain get better and stronger.

At the new location, the increased space allowed Genesis was to expand its programs.

“We’ve started some balance training activities with some of our older population,” Holman said. “We’ve started some sport-specific activities with some of our young kids.

“We’re looking at getting Pilates, and at getting different equipment in for our overweight population who are not comfortable with going to a gym. ”
