Funeral services for Oliver Shade of Gallion were held on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church in Gallion. The Rev. Moses Jones is the pastor; the Rev. Kelvin Robertson officiated.
Interment followed in Mount Caanan Cemetery in Gallion. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directed the services.
He was precededin death by two children, Lois Chatman and Gladys Kaye.
Survivors include four children, Barbara (Bryan) Pritchett of Gallion, Billy Baldwin of Fresno, Calif., Bobbie Batie of Cleveland, Ohio, Inez Pitman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Raymond (Eloise) White, Dennis Gunn, Edward Brown, Lykeyshia (Wilson) James and Kenya Barley; six devoted nephews, Frank, Marvin, Willie, Rayfield, Tommy and Vincent; five nieces, Mary, Dorother, Mary, Miriam and Geraldine; a host of grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
