There’s no arguing that a portion of a football team’s success is mental preparation.

That includes everything from an inspired pep talk to a well-timed and pointed rear end chewing from the coach.

Demopolis Quarterback Club president Kenny Freeman and fans of Tiger football are working to give the home team just one more mental advantage in Friday night’s home contest.

Freeman has been encouraging business up and along Highways 43 and 80 in Demopolis to decorate their offices in blue and white. The strategic location of those businesses is simple.

“LeFlore will be coming to Demopolis up 43 and turn onto 80 to get to the game,” he said. “We want them to see that football is serious here and we want them to see this town supports the football team.”

Freeman said he the response from businesses along the route has been positive. In the next several days, you will begin to see several Tigers staked along the highway, and signs will be placed in the median leading up to the stadium entrance.

Freeman is also encouraging those who intend to come to the game to arrive early and stake out a good tailgating spot and a good seat.

“We will not have any reserved seating in the playoffs,” he said.

“Every seat is first come, first served. We’re encouraging everybody to get there early, bring your grills and bring a crowd.”

Once you enter the gates at Tiger Stadium, Freeman is encouraging fans to bring something else: Intensity.

“We need a big and loud crowd there Friday night,” he said. “Pick you out a good seat but don’t sit in it. Get up and get loud.”

The Tigers play LeFlore Friday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
