William Davis Wheeler

William Davis “Grandy” Wheeler, age 83, of Marion passed away on Nov. 18, 2009, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1926, in Maryville, Tenn., to Robert B. and Ellen Hitch Wheeler, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara McCulley “Bobbie” Wheeler; two siblings, Nell Burns of Knoxville, Tenn., and James A. Wheeler of Uniontown; four children, Paul W. (Windi) Wheeler of Marion, Robin W. (Tim) Howard of Orange Beach, Leslie W. (Donnie) Craig of Greensboro and Emily W. (Randy) Hollingsworth of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren, Greg W. (Lesley) Howard, Abbey W. (Jeff) Green, Mason D. (Sunny) Terry, Beth H. (Craig) England, Rachel T. (Kayle) Hughey, Andy (Mary Ruth) Wheeler, Grace Wheeler, Fran Hollingsworth, Ellen Hollingsworth and Madison Stringfellow; and three great-grandchildren, Allea Green, Wheeler Green and Anna Faith Wheeler.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. at Siloam Baptist Church in Marion with the Rev. Bill Wallace and the Rev. Scott Schuyler officiating. Interment followed at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens of Marion. The family received friends on Friday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Siloam Baptist Church. Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directed the services.
Pallbearers were Tim Howard, Donnie Craig, Randy Hollingsworth, Jeff Green, Andy Wheeler, Mason Terry and Craig England. Honorary pallbearers were Wheeler Green, Billy Harrison, Howard Cook, Bud Hinton, Chad Pitts, Dan Robertson, Ross Prichard, Robert Earl Branton, Glynward Coley, Rodney Davis, ALFA board members and the men’s Sunday school class.
