DHS holds off Linden on Senior Day

Linden came within moments of spoiling Demopolis’ Senior Night festivities, before the wheels came off in a 48-46 loss to the homestanding Tigers Friday night.

With 22.4 seconds to go in the game and trailing 47-46, Linden took over possession after a Demopolis turnover. Whatever play head coach Roosevelt Moore schemed during the ensuing timeout never came to fruition as the opportunistic DaMarcus James darted in front of the inbound pass, knocking off a Patriot player and subsequently out of bounds to give DHS the possession.

However, the Tigers did themselves no favors, missing a free throw opportunity moments later to hand possession back to Linden. A second opportunity to take control of the contest went arwy when Linden went to the free throw line with 12.4 to play and failed to convert on both charity shots.

Over the remaining seconds, Demopolis would make three more trips to the line, converting on only one free throw and watching as Linden committed turnover after turnover.

Michael Davis led Demopolis with 12 points and seven rebounds. Anthony Hardy had nine points, four rebounds and four steaals while Jeremy Wallace had nine points and six steals.

Gerald Bruno headed up the offensive effort for Linden with 16 points. Justin Delaine had 10 points, five rebounds and four blocks for the Pats.

Demopolis hosts John Essex Saturday night while the Patriots hold their own Senior night festivities.
