Funeral services for the Rev. Nellie Mae Lankster Butler of Linden were held on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at Small Memorial AME Zion Church in Jefferson. The Rev. Linda Hollinger is the pastor; the Rev. Sanford Davis, presiding elder, officiated. Bishop James E. McCoy is the presiding prelate. Interment followed in Scott Memorial Cemetery in Jefferson. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directed the services.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Wilson Butler, Sr.; six children, Eddie (Shirley) Richardson of Birmingham, Judy (Allen) Compton, Ronald (Elizabeth) Butler and Arceners (Elbert) Jackson, all of Linden, Wilson C. (Donita) Butler Jr. of Panama City, Fla., and Angeline (Phillip) Clark of Birmingham; a son, Joe King of Pensacola, Fla.; siblings Easter Bell Holmes of Flint, Mich., Willie Edwards and Clarese Armadi, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Richard (Christine) Lankster, Robert Lankster, John Lankster, Albert F. Lankster and Rose M. Wolf, all of Linden, Barrown Lankster of Demopolis, Carl (Frankie) Lankster of Nashville, Tenn., Gwendolyn Lankster of Compton, Calif., Saul Lankster Sr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Velma Jean Lankster of Malibu, Calif., and Debra Wright of Columbus, Ga.; 19 grandchildren; three granddaughters, Luckie, Crystal and Collette Butler; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
