Relay event a booming success

The success of a fundraiser is generally fairly easy to measure: Did you raise enough funds?

A yes or no usually dictates the success ratio.

However, certain things require a little more study, like Relay for Life.

Raising funds for cancer research is the reason for the event, but over the years those reasons have both grown and morphed. Every dollar is important but equally as important is the awareness events like Relay for Life raise.

Also important is the community involvement and participation.

Last night, swarms of people, both team members and on-lookers, took part in the 2010 installment of Marengo County’s Relay for Life and each donation – from the quarter at the dunking booth to the thousand or so dollars raised by RockTenn’s fishing tournament – will be collected, counted and placed in the pool of funds used to treat and look for a cure.

All the funds collected here will go a long way in helping wipe the horrible disease from the face of the earth and we thank you all for your participation.
