The Demopolis boys tennis team ended its state run Tuesday as the last of the Tigers fell in the second round.

The Tigers’ lone doubles win in their first state tournament came when Neilsen Renner and Walker McNeil defeated Moody in the first round. The tandem fell to familiar foes Walker in the second round.

In singles competition, Renner picked up a first round win by downing Eufaula’s No. 2 seed. Renner ultimately lost to St. Paul’s in the second round.

Logan Boone represented well in his bracket, defeating Boaz in the first round before falling to Walker in the second round.

“I think it was good for them. Now they see what it was like to go compete against the best and now they can go build off of it,” Demopolis coach Kyle Williams said of the experience his team gained. “We’ve got five out of six coming back and we can expect big things for next year as long as we work hard.”
