Funeral services for Sidney Nix of Westbury, N.Y., formerly of Coatopa, were held on Saturday, April 24, at 1 p.m. at Bethel-Pine Baptist Church in Coatopa. The Rev. F.O. Bell is the pastor. The Rev. Willie Ivory officiated. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Coatopa. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directed the services.
Survivors include his mother, Lela R. Nix of Coatopa; two sons, James A. Russell of New Orleans, La., and Warren Dowell of Westbury, N.Y.; five sisters, Wymia (Perry) Coleman of Waukegan, Ill., Corine Chambers of Canton, Ohio, Doris Nix of Coatopa, Deborah (Rod) Stinson of Detroit, Mich., and Mattie Lee Nix of Greensboro; three brothers, Joseph (Mattie) Nix, Bennett (Rosie) Nix and Selton Nix, all of Waukegan Ill.; two aunts, Mary A. Russell of Detroit, Mich., and Ruby Russell of Bellamy; one uncle, Ennis R. Russell of Canton, Ohio; one uncle-in-law, Booker Dykes; a special friend, Rosetta Vann; devoted cousins, Milton (Sandra) Dykes and Robert (Alexis) Dykes, both of Westbury, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
