William Luther “Bill” Rorie Sr., age 76 of Foley, formerly of Demopolis, died on April 30, 2010, at his home in Foley.
He was born on July 25, 1933, in Selma to the late William R. and Ruth Ellen Barley Rorie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William L. Rorie Jr.; and two grandchildren, Rachael Lawson Elliott and Robert Timothy Albritton.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bobbie Joan Rorie; two daughters, Elizabeth R. Keeton of Foley and Patricia Kate (Ricky) Rice of Foley; a son, Robert C. Rorie of Demopolis; two sisters, Hattie Lou C. (Andy) Morgan of Jefferson and Ruth Ellen C. (Johnny) Williams of Demopolis; four grandchildren, Jessica Andrews, Adam Rice, Roxy Rorie and Rob “Junior” Rorie; and four great-grandchildren, Jake Lawson, Izak Elliott, Bailey Tucker and Brantley Rice.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel with the Rev. Anita Wilburn and the Rev. Dunford Cole officiating. Burial followed at Old Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directed the services.
Pallbearers were David Compton Jr., Douglas Coats, Jeff Coats, Buddy Wilburn, Wayne Langley, Dewayne Williams, Scott Williams and Bud Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were the Masons.
