Clarence Butler

Clarence Cavit Butler, age 85, of Forest Home died in New Orleans, La., on April 11, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Greenville with the Rev. Tim Patton and Dr. Paul McLendon officiating. The body lay in state from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Greenville. Burial followed in Shackleville Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday, April 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home. Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home of Greenville directed the services.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Butler, and his brother, Ray Butler.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Bessie Raye Butler; two daughters, Brenda (Buddy) Flowers and Charlotte (David) Blasingame of Greenville; two sons, Tony (Debi) Butler of Clinton, S.C., and Clarence “Charlie” Butler of Lafayette, La.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Mary Joyce Lambert of Ponchatoula, La., Hazel Scurry of Palatka, Fla., and Sara Criswell of Picayune, Miss.; one brother, James Butler of Pensacola, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver Jeanora Presley of Forest Home.
