William Bernard “Billy” McMillan, age 81, of Greensboro died on May 8, 2010, at Heritage Nursing Home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtis O’Dell Adams McMillan; his parents, William Hamilton McMillan and Minnie Lucille McMillan; a stepmother, Marie Day McMillan; and a brother, Robert Hamilton McMillan.
Survivors included a daughter, Rhonda McMillan of Uniontown; two sons, William H. McMillan of Houston, Texas, and David Wayne McMillan of Greensboro; two stepsons, William F. Pickle of Greensboro and Danny Pickle of South Carolina; a brother, Barry Wayne McMillan of Mississippi; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 11, at 2 p.m. at Greensboro Bible Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Vernon officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directed the services.
Pallbearers were Ray Melton, John Meggs, James Britt, William Robert McMillan Jr., Ralph Howard and Mike Owens. Honorary pallbearers were Koal McMillan, De. Thomas McDermott and staff, 6 South staff at DCH Regional Medical Center, Heritage Nursing Home staff, Cross Roads BP employees and Greensboro Co-Op employees.
