Judge Wade Drinkard has received the Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award from Rotary International. It was awarded to him at the Rotary District 6880 Annual Conference held aboard the Carnival Fantasy Cruise Ship by District Governor Carol Franks.

Drinkard is a member of the Linden Rotary Club and has served that club as president and secretary. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and served as an Assistant Governor for two years before being elected District Governor for District 6880 for Rotary Year 2000 – 2001. He has also served as District Foundation Chair.

Rotary International is an organization that treasures “service above self”. The Distinguished Service Award is one of the greatest forms of recognition that can be achieved by such dedicated Rotarians who have learned the real meaning of “service above self” and who have translated those words into action.

There are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide in 33,000 clubs worldwide in 200 countries and geographical areas. The Distinguished Service Award is presented to no more than 50 Rotarians worldwide in recognition of their exemplary service to the Rotary Foundation that extends beyond the district level.

When presented the award, DG Franks said, “You have inspired us with your vision and with your dedication. You have brought great honor to our district and I am pleased that the Foundation can now extend this honor to you.”

Drinkard is married to Glenna and they have two children, Laura and Counce. Wade served as a practicing attorney in Marengo County in private law practice until 1989, when he became the Assistant District Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit. Wade was elected the Marengo County District Court Judge in January, 2001, and presently serves in that position. He is active in the Demopolis United Methodist Church as well as the Gideons and the Boy Scouts.
