Allie Viola Jenkins Thomas, age 88, of Demopolis passed away on June 26, 2010, at her home.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1921, in Aliceville to the late Rufus Edgar and Lettis Belle Manley Thomas. She was a dietician at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Clarence Cebron “Buck” Thomas; a sister, Ruby Edna Carney; and a brother, Clyde Roscoe Jenkins.
Survivors include two sons, William R. “Bill” (Margaret) Thomas of Demopolis and Donald Cebron (Adele Fischlin) Thomas of Thalwil, Switzerland; a daughter, Judith Kay Riden of Starkville, Miss.; three sisters, Ruthie Eunice Stone of Meridian, Miss., Lois Rebecca McClain of Opelika and Vester Valerie Cockrell of Mobile; six grandchildren, Andreas Paul Thomas of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Ariane Nicole (Matthias) Goeschke of Vienna, Austria, Melanie Gabriela (Sedun) Yilmaz of Samstager, Switzerland, Viola Rosa Magreth Thomas of Thalwil, Switzerland, Renee (Charles) Reed of Starkville, Miss., and William Andrew (Celia) Thomas of Demopolis; and six great-grandchildren, Amelia Elizabeth Goeschke, Elias Cedric Goeschke, Noah Yilmaz, Gabriel Jonathan Yilmaz, Joshua Daniel Yilmaz and Effie Grace Thomas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Demopolis with Dr. Denny Goodwin, the Rev. Brooks Barkley and the Rev. Ferrell Maughan officiating. Burial will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel is directing the services.
Pallbearers will be Troy McPherson, Andrea Paul Thomas, Glyn Trotman, Leonard Pope, Charles Reed, Wayne Thomas and Ron Wood. Honorary pallbearers are the T.E.L. Sunday school class of First Baptist Church of Demopolis.
The family would like to thank Janet Daniels, Flora Harris and Earnestine Seldon for showing Ms. Thomas love, devotion and constant care.
