James Albert Parkel, age 77, of Gallion passed away on Aug. 25, 2010, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 15, 1932, in Jefferson County to Charles O. and Hazel Richardson Parkel.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Parkel.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Jackson Parkel; a daughter, Adele (Julian) Anderson of Myrtlewood; a son, Erie J. Parkel of Opelika; two sisters, Yvonne Parkel of Auburndale, Fla., and Joni Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Donnie Black, Jennifer Pearson and T.J. Black; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Davis officiating. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directed the services.
