The Demopolis High School volleyball team (1-4, 0-3) dropped its fourth straight game Monday, losing to region foe Greenville on the road in blowout fashion. Greenville took game one 25-8, game two 25-22 and game three 25-7.
“They just quit putting forth effort,” Demopolis head coach Blythe Martin said of the team’s dramatic drop in production between the second and third games. “Their mind wasn’t in the game. They just gave up for whatever reason.”
Martin indicated she has high expectations for her squad, citing her faith in their ability to be competitive against any opponent.
“I feel like my team can stay with anybody we play,” Martin said. “(Monday) no one had a good game. No one.”
The Lady Tigers return to action Thursday against Sumter County and still have regular season dates with Greensboro, Sweet Water and Selma remaining on the schedule. Martin expects better results in the coming matches.
“It takes their mind being in the game,” she said. “It takes communication and it takes teamwork and effort. None of that came together (Monday).”
