Elizabeth “Bess” Buck Pack

Elizabeth “Bess” Buck Pack, 94, of Thomaston died Friday, Sept. 24 at the Marengo Nursing Home. She was born December 16, 1915 in Thomaston. She married John Franklin Pack on November 23, 194. She received the AB Degree from Alabama College for Women (now University of Montevallo) and pursued graduate studies at both George Peabody College for Teachers (now part of Vanderbilt University) and Auburn University. She taught mathematics in the public and private high schools of Alabama for over 20 years. She is survived by two sons, John Franklin (Janice) Pack of Dana Point, Calif. and Dr. James Stallworth Pack of Marietta, Ga., one brother; James Rice Buck of Alexandria, Va., grandson Jeffrey Franklin Pack of Buffalo, N.Y. and granddaughter Jaime Pack (Nick) Vostechko of Santa Barbara, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Pack, and a son, Joseph Carlton Pack.

Funeral services were held at Thomaston United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. Burial was in the Thomaston Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Brooks thomas, Phillip Johnson, Mike Hall, Lex Parker, Al Moseley and Malcolm Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers were the staff of the Marengo Nursing Home, Edith Lowery, Jackie Curry, Ola Richardson, Jim and Becky Pritchett, Madelyn Thomas and Clifford Mitchell. Memorials may be made to the Marengo Nursing Home or the Thomaston United Methodist Church.
