Bobby Kidd, former owner of Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home in Demopolis and a former city councilman, passed away Saturday night.

Funeral arrangements have not been set.

Kidd began work in Demopolis in 1963 with Cook-Speigner Funeral Home, which was located where Kidd-Robbins is located now on U.S. Highway 80.

Kidd-Robbins was named the 2008 Business of the Year by the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce, the first sole-proprietor business to earn the award since the Chamber began issuing the awards in 1990.

Kidd-Robbins was sold to Kirk Funeral Homes in April of this year as Kidd’s health declined.
