Linden City Council made a handful of moves at Tuesday night’s meeting. The voting body opted to move the observance of Halloween to Saturday, Oct. 30., retracting a previous vote to maintain a Sunday celebration of the holiday.

“I talked to several people and I think that people really wanted to know what night it was going to be. But when the answer was Sunday, they were a little disappointed,” Linden Mayor Mitzi Gates said.

“I’m glad the council went along with what Demopolis and Thomasville were doing. I think that is the best thing for everybody involved.”

The council also decided to allow city employees to take off Friday, Nov. 12 in observance of Veteran’s Day rather than the customary Nov. 11 date.

The council also opted to move all city council meetings for the months of November and December to a 4 p.m. time slot.
