David Warren Harper, Sr., 73, of Greensboro passed away Oct. 23 at UAB in Birmingham. Born July 25, 1937 in Maron to the last D.L. and Mary Lena Fulton Harper, he served in the United State Air Force until his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Thompson Harper, daughter, Margaret Harper Paul of Newbern, sons Williams L. Harper (Allie) of Tuscaloosa, David Warren Harper, Jr. of Greensboro, Jeffery L. Harper (Rita) of Greensboro, Jerry G. Harper of Greensboro, sisters Ernestine Lee of Tuscaloosa, Doris Barlow of Northport, Ruby Nell Webber of Northport, Brother Vernon Harper (Lola B.) of Greensboro, 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church with the reverends Arthur Thomas and James J. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers are Joey Harper, Kevin Harper, Randy Harper, William Harper, Jr, Tim Minchew and Kevin Griffin. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church fund.
