Gallion VFD looking to add a second station

GALLION – The Old Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department is looking for land to foster the construction of a new fire station.
Assistant Fire Chief Todd Foster said the department was in need of three to five acres near the intersection of Highway 69 and County Road 54 in Gallion, on the Marengo County side.
“The need for this land is to help house a fire truck and tanker truck to help in a better and quicker response tim in case of an emergency,” he said.
The facility would serve as the department’s second station and given the proximity of the station to the highway and the number of homes in the immediate area, residents would also likely see near immediate benefits.
“Adding a second station at this location will also help in getting a lower ISO rating for the community,” Foster said. “This will lower homeowner’s insurance.”
The building could also be used as a community house and a polling place, Foster added.
If you have any information regarding land in the area, please contact the fire station at 289-6911 or Foster at 341-0295.
