Elizabeth Duke Singley

Elizabeth Duke Singley, 98, of Greensboro passed away at hale County Hospital Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010. Born Oct. 4, 1912 in Marengo County, she made Greensboro her home for the last 68 years. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse “Jake” Singley, who went to be with the Lord on Dec. 25, 1997. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Hale County Health Department and was known as the “clinic nurse.” She is survived by her niece, Betty Franklin of Marion, second cousins, Eoline Trippe Johnson of Greensboro, Jack Trippe of Greensboro and Walter Trippe of Florida as well as a niece by marriage, Ollie Mae McAdams of Montgomery and a great niece by marriage, Rebecca Glover (Jeff) of Fosters. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at Bible Methodist Church in Greensboro with the Reverends Steve Vernon and Drew Dockery officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Burial followed in Old Greensboro Cemetery. Pallbearers included Keith Clements, Bruce Langham, Keith Phillips, John Dodson, Winn Jones and John Marchant. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Hale County Hospital and Southern Comfort Hopsice for the loving care shown to Mrs. Singley.
