Mary Janes King

Mary Janes King, 78, died Dec. 19 at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. She was a native of Demopolis, born April 6, 1932 to Anton Janes and Johana Kalcic Janes.

She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Ray King, of Falkville; children, Jonathan (Mary Beth) Thompson King, of Eva and Robin (Nyle) King Davis, of Tucker, Ga.; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Robert (Jonathan), Stella Rose (Robin) and Nicholas Frank (Jonathan).

As a young couple, Mary and her husband, Bob, traveled across and had many adventures in the United States, Mexico and Europe, living for a time with Bob and their children in Milan, Italy. Mary always enjoyed coming home to Demopolis with Bob and their children to enjoy family and friends on the Tombigbee River. She was a devoted Catholic and mother who enjoyed camping and ballroom dancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Frances Janes Lee, Rose Janes Goulette and Julia Janes; brothers, Frank Janes, John Janes and Joseph Janes.

Funeral services will be held Dec. 23 at noon at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Demopolis with father Larry Shinuick officiating. Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing.

Burial will follow in Riverside.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home Dec. 22 with a Rosary service beginning at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Catholic charity of your choice.
