Demopolis Superintendent of Education Dr. Al Griffin said Sunday afternoon that, in light of forecasted ice accumulation into Monday evening, that all city schools and offices would be closed Monday.

“I just decided to go ahead and call it so that the parents that are forced to work can make arrangements for their kids,” he said. “The forecast looks pretty bad and I just don’t think it’s going to be safe.”

The University of West Alabama has also elected to close Monday, which includes the Demopolis Higher Education Center.

Marengo Academy will also be closed Monday as will Marengo County Schools and Linden City Schools.
