Phebe Hinson Mitchell

Phebe Hinson Mitchell passed away quietly at her home in Demopolis Friday evening Jan. 7. She was born and reared in the Octagon community, graduated from Linden High School and attended Huntington College in Montgomery. She lived most of her life in the Hugo community in Marengo County where she reared five children with her husband, Clifford Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.A. (Nollie) Hinson Sr. and Sadie Westbrook, her sisters, Sadie Lou Hinson Walters of Linden, Inez Hinson Watts of Octagon and brother A.A. (Bud) Hinson of Octagon. She is survived by her former husband, Clifford Mitchell of Hugo, children Charles C. Mitchell Jr. (Peggy) of Auburn, Dennis B. Mitchell (Rhonda) of Deatsville, James H. Mitchell (Debra) of Thomaston, G. Kevin MItchell of Nashville, Tenn. and Mary C. Mitchell Green (David) of Birmingham; grandchildren Chelsea Mitchell, Haley Mitchell, Alexis Green, Lauren Green and Luke Green. She is also survived by her beloved friend Richard Adams of Greensboro. Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dunford Cole officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Mike Walters, Stanley Walters, Nollie Hinson, Rod Laduron, Eddie Thornhill and Jim Peppenhorst. Honorary Pallbearers were Angie Johnson and the staff of Southern Care Hospice. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be offered at www.obryantchapelfh.com.
