Robert Ray “Bob” King, 72, of Tucker, Ga. died Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. He was born March 9, 1938 to his loving parents Carlin Dale King and Delila Thompson King in Charleston, W. Va. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mary Janes King. He is survived by two children, Jonathan Thompson King and his wife, Mary Beth, of Eva and Robin King Davis and her husband, Nyle, of Tucker, Ga., three grandchildren, Nathaniel Robert (Jonathan), Stella Rose (Robin) and Nicolas Frank (Jonathan), three sisters, Suzanne King, Sarah King and Chris Amey (Bill), all of Frankfort, Ky. He was an Airman Second Class and served as an electronics technician for the United States Air Force and served on active duty from Feb. 1959 to Dec. 1962. and on reserved duty until Feb. 1965. He was employed as an IT and network specialist for Honeywell for over 30 years. He was an active man who loved traveling, hiking, running, skiing, scuba diving, camping, fishing, ballroom dancing with his wife Mary and showing his children the joys of the outdoors. As a young couple, Bob and Mary traveled across and had many adventures in the United States, Mexico and Europe, living for a time with Mary and their children in Milan, Italy. He was a committed supporter of the goals and mission of the American Red Cross. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. at Saint Leo’s Catholic Church in Demopolis with Father Larry Shinnick officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the American Red Cross Atlanta Chapter, 404-876-3706.
