Designing the future

More than 30 community members have already logged long hours in a quest to help Demopolis City Schools formulate and realize its vision of the future. One of the top items on first-year Superintendent Dr. Al Griffin’s agenda this year has been the setting forth of a Five-Year Strategic Plan for DCS.

As part of that process, DCS assembled a crack team of individuals ranging from teachers to administrators to BOE members to political figures and including all points in between.

Kudos go out to the school system for recognizing the Demopolis City Schools, like most other public school systems, are actually contingent upon community involvement. And getting a strong cross-section of community leaders involved to help guide the system’s direction is among the best ways to create ownership in the system. Once the plan is completed in March, all that will be left is to carry out the five-year roadmap. And doing that will take more than the 30 people who helped draw it up.
