The Marengo County Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its largest fundraiser of the year Thursday, March 10 at the Demopolis Country Club.

The annual banquet will see the doors open at 6 p.m. with a steak dinner to be served at 7 p.m.

The dinner allows the Marengo County Longbeards to generate enough income to support its annual events, including a handful of youth activities geared toward Jakes, the name given to aspiring young hunters.

“Yearly membership is included,” Marengo County Longbeards President Brandon Smith said of the added perks figured into the price of admission to the banquet. “And that also includes a subscription to the magazine.”

The banquet also helps the chapter to contribute to the National Wild Turkey Federation’s super fund.

That fund contains the monies that the National Wild Turkey Federation hands out for various grants.

In addition to the steak dinner, the banquet will also include a number of door prizes, auctions and giveaways.

“There’s going to be about eight guns available for auctions and giveaways, numerous turkey calls, several wildlife prints,” Smith said. “We’ll have several turkey hunts and signed box calls.”
