Four arrests made in country club fuel theft

The Demopolis Police Department recently made several arrests following an investigation of gasoline being stolen from the Demopolis Country Club.

The arrests bring closure to an investigation that spanned nearly a month.

Arrested were James Matthew LeCroy, 18, who was charged with two counts of Theft of Property III and two counts of Criminal Trespassing III; Kade Burkhalter, 18, who was charged with one count of Theft of Property III and one count of Criminal Trespassing III; Hunter Trent Blackwood, 18, who was charged with one count of Theft of Property III and one count of Criminal Trespassing III and a juvenile, who was charged with one count of Theft of Property III and one count o Criminal Trespassing III.

The name of the juvenile was not released due to his age. Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese said the suspects were allegedly using the stolen fuel to fill up their personal vehicles and that the case remains under investigation.

“I’d like to thank the officers in this case for a job well done,” Reese said.
