The Lady Tigers (20-7, 2-0) overpowered the Saints to the tune of a 16-1 win.

“They just overwhelmed us,” Selma head coach Morgan Boyd said. “We weren’t the same team that came out and played against Dallas County (in a 3-1 loss) and they beat us because of it.”

The Tigers had no problem scoring, in part because of a barrage of errors in the second inning by Selma. The Lady Tigers will look to continue that offensive trend said assistant coach Joey Browder.

“We have hit the ball well this season,” Browder said. “Except for a couple of games there, we have gotten it done at the plate.”

Kristin Beach went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run for the Lady Tigers. Madison Laduron was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a triple. Courtney Lawrence scored once in the pitcher’s stead on the base paths. Raylee Eubanks was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Meredith Mackin walked and scored a run.

Sidney Colyer walked twice and scored a run. Zoe Lewis scored once. Alexis Jones went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Maria Brooker scored three runs. Olivia Brame was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Victoria Washburn went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Laduron (16-5) picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Tigers, working the full five innings while striking out 10 and giving up only one hit and an unearned run.

The Saints must now pick up the pieces before continuing region play against Greenville next week.

Demopolis plays again Monday when it travels to Aliceville before hosting Bibb County Tuesday.
