The Demopolis Board of Education voted Monday to hire Evelyn James to fill its vacancy at Chief Financial Officer.

“We need somebody who can come in here and get to work with these cuts,” Board President Bobby Armstead said of the reduction of funds available to schools from the state. “We need somebody who can make the most of what we’ve got, and what we’re going to get, and protect the integrity of the classroom.”

James currently serves as CSFO for the Greene County School System.
