Norman Winn Lipscomb, 59, of Ralph died April 4 at his residence. Funeral services were held at Memory Chapel Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mike Griffin presiding. Burial followed at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Gallion.

The body lied in state at Kirk Funeral Home Demopolis chapel from 2 to 3 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaston J. Lipscomb Jr., sisters Helen Lipscomb Cassels and Elizabeth Whitfield Lipscomb.

He is survived by his spouse Shirley J. Lipscomb, stepdaughter Nicole Johnson of Cleveland, Tenn. stepson Eric M. Johnson of Birmingham, sister Nathalie (Terry) Taylor of Forkland, brothers Gaston J. “Boo” Lipscomb III of Demopolis and William Robert Lipscomb of Demopolis, nieces Lauren Taylor of Forkland, Vivv (Aaron) Ambrose of Norfolk, Va., great niece and nephew Elle and Jackson Ambrose and granddaughter Bailey Katherine Johnson of Cleveland, Tenn.

Norman was born and raised in Demopolis. He attended Demopolis High School and was a member of the DHS football team. After graduation, he attended Marion Military Institute.

While at MMI he was a member of the color guard and the boxing team. He later attended Auburn University where he received his B.S. in Forestry.

Norman was a licensed Alabama Realtor and Broker during his 31-year career with Gulf States Paper Corporation and the Westervelt Company.

Norman loved Auburn football, Civil War history, and was an avid runner. One of his greatest accomplishments was running in and completing the Boston Marathon with his father.

Pallbearers included William R. Terry, Terry Randall, Rob Rimer, Maston Watson, Scotty Collins and Eric Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers included Dr. and Mrs. Bony Barrineau, Dr. Keith DeBell and staff, employees of Gulf States Paper Corporation and the Westervelt Company, employees of BBVA Compass Bank, Tommy Hester, George Poole and the Ralph Volunteer Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or Trinity Episcopal Church of Demopolis.
