PINE HILL – A Yellow Bluff man was arrested and charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend this weekend.

Anthony Nicholson was arrested Saturday morning after an over-night manhunt and charged with Capital Murder after a Friday attack that left Tiffanie Jowers dead.

According to Pine Hill chief of police John Brown, his department responded to 92 Jowers Lane to a stabbing call. While on scene they found a deceased black female on the bedroom floor with a stab wound found to the chest, later identified as Jowers.

“When officers spoke with the family members they said that she had gotten into a fight with her ex-boyfriend (Nicholson),” Brown said. “Family members said that Nicholson came to the house earlier around 10 and asked if Jowers was at home. They told him no and to leave, but Nicholson didn’t he waited on Jowers till she arrived home.”

Brown said, according to witnesses, Nicholson then confronted Jowers in the front yard.

“As Jowers was removing her newborn baby from the car, that’s when Nicholson started his assault,” Brown said. Jowers was stabbed in the left chest.

“As a family member walked out of the house they saw Nicholson fighting with Jowers,” Brown added. “The family member told Nicholson to stop and when they grabbed Nicholson he just pulled away from them and started walking away.”

Nicholson fled the scene before police arrived and tracking dogs from Atmore Prison were called in to conduct the track.

The Wilcox County Sheriffs Office along with the Clarke County Sheriffs Office responded to assist in setting up a perimeter to contain Nicholson in the area. Nicholson was located after daylight Saturday in Pine Hill near the Pine Hill Chapel.

Nicholson is charged with Capital Murder Domestic Violence and is being held in the Wilcox County Jail.

Brown thanked the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, Atmore Prison K-9 Tracking Team, Wilcox County Corner’s Office, Pine Hill Fire Department, MedCare EMS and the Clarke County EMA for their assistance.
