Demopolis (33-8) cranked out four wins in three days culminating with a 16-1 victory over Aliceville Monday.

Demopolis coach Todd Mathis said his team picked up its focus during Monday’s contest, an improve upon the approach it showed Saturday during a four-team round robin tournament at Sweet Water.

“They were flat Saturday. I wasn’t pleased Saturday. But we won. So that is good,” Mathis said. “(Monday) they did a lot better. They did their job.”

Demopolis opened up with seven runs in the first inning Monday before adding two in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth to cap the 15-run, four-inning victory.

Madison Laduron (27-6) struck out five batters over four innings while surrendering three hits and a walk to pick up the victory for Demopolis.

Kristin Beach went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a triple and four RBIs out of the Lady Tigers’ leadoff spot. Madison Bozeman went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Alexis Jones scored a run. Zoe Lewis walked, scored two runs and had an RBI.

Raylee Eubanks went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Donelle Hale walked and scored. Alex Crawford went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored.

Sydney Colyar walked, had an RBI and scored two runs. Victoria Washburn went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.

“She did great,” Mathis said of Washburn’s performance. “She is learning how to hit the two-strike pitch. That will get you on the field quicker than anything.”

Demopolis opened the four-game stretch by defeating host team Sweet Water 11-4 Saturday. Laduron fanned six over seven innings in that win.

Beach went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, a double and a run scored. Bozeman was 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Laduron was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Eubanks went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Lewis was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs. Crawford went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Olivia Brame went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

In the second game of the round robin, Demopolis defeated Cordova 8-2. Lewis picked up her second win of the year after working seven innings, striking out one and giving up only four hits in the game.

Bozeman went 1-for-3. Laduron was 1-for-4. Lewis went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Eubanks went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Hale was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Crawford and Colyar each went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Demopolis downed Thomasville 6-5 in its final game of the round robin. Laduron picked up the victory in contest, pitching seven innings for the win.

Beach went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Bozeman went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Laduron went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Eubanks went 1-for-3. Washburn went 1-for-1. Crawford finished the game 1-for-4 while Brame went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Demopolis will wrap up its regular season on the road Thursday when it visits Bibb County. That will serve as the final contest before the team hosts the area tournament Friday, March 6.

“I want to play good,” Mathis said of his hope’s for Thursday’s contest. “Naturally, you want to win every game. But I want us to play good.”
