Ruth Simon Doster, 90, died Monday, May 23 at Bryan W. Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis. Born March 1, 1921 in Marengo County to the late Harry and Ruth Monnier Simon, she was preceded in death by her husband Byron Lupton Doster and brother James Simon. She is survived by her daughter, Deidre D. Snipes of Gallion, sons Byron (Laurie) Doster Jr. of Demopolis and David Doster of Demopolis, sister Clara (Harold) Johnson of Demopolis, brothers Joe Simon of Destin, Fla. and Harry (Peggy) Simon of Montgomery, grandchildren John Nicholas Doster of Tuscaloosa, Jacob Byron Doster of Demopolis, Elizabeth Alexander Doster of Cuba, Lindsay Yelverton of Daphne, Matt (Amanda) Hasard of Demopolis, Mandi (Brian) Jordan of Sweet Water, Mallory (Chase) Courtney of Tuscaloosa and Andrew Snipes of Gallion as well as great grandchildren Hunter Yelverton, Peyton Yelverton, Carson Jordan, Maddie Jordan, Emma Claire Jordan, Lillie Cameron Courtney, Caleb Hansard, Britton Hansard and Taylor Langley. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 25 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis with Rev. Steve Vernon officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Bigbee Humane Society in Demopolis.
