Investigators with the department travelled to Arab to apprehend Martin after he made contact with a DPD officer whom he thought was an underage girl from Demopolis.

Martin remains in the Marengo County Jail where he awaits a bond hearing.

Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese praised his team for bringing a suspected child predator one step closer to justice.

“I appreciate all the work the Investigative Division does in Cyber Crimes as we protect our children,” he said.

Thursday’s arrest makes the second time in the past year that officers have travelled to north Alabama to make an arrest.

Newman Howard Grogan Jr., 47, of Anniston, was arrested in October for the same charges.
