Rev. William James Cannon Jr., 82, of Linden died Saturday, July 23 at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton in Birmingham. He was born April 25, 1929 in Hugo. He was a graduate of Howard College in Birmingham and was a minister for 55 years, serving numerous churches. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, the Bethel Baptist Ministers Association, and was a mason. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Drinkard Cannon of Linden, daughters Peggy (Billy) Pritchett of Nanafalia and Marie (Terry) Ray of Carthage, Miss., son William J. “Bud” (Neicey) Cannon III of Linden, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William James Cannon Sr. and Irma Madge McManus Cannon. Funeral services were held at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 26 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Gandy officiating. Burial was at Linden Memorial Park in Linden. Active Pallbearers were Jay Cannon, Colby Cannon, Josh Ray, William Brown, Brady Vincent, Hunter Kamplain, Jimmy Tate and Paul Young. Honorary Pallbearers were Little Drug Coffee Drinkers.
