Jasper Grady Rutledge

Jasper Grady Rutledge of Demopolis died Sept. 7 at Anderson Medical Center in Meridian, Miss. Born Sept. 9, 1930 in Meridian, Miss. to the late Walter G. and Eva Thomas Rutledge, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Anderson Rutledge, who was laid to rest this past Monday. He was also preceded by his parents, daughter Cathy Rutledge Clifton and son, Grady Allen Rutledge.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Linda (Bubby) Copeland, Kay (Keith) Smith, Cindy Rutledge and Chris Persson, Debbie (Randy) Gabriel all of Meridian, Janna (Bryan) Cook of Covington, La. and Bobby Rutledge of Gadsden, sisters-in-law Janice Rutledge and Faye Rutledge, both of Meridian, and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel with the reverends Ron Leonard and Randall Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Chapel Church Cemetery in Meridian, Miss.

The family will received friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 before the service Saturday.

Active Pallbearers include Morris Samples, David Compton, Mike Barnes, Keith Smith, Josh Johnson and Joe Bedsole.

Honorary Pallbearers include Eddie Phillips, Gene Davis, Don Barkley, Bryan Cook, Randy Gabriel and Tim Skinner.

Grady was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from Gulf States in Demopolis. He was a loyal member of Rangeline Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity or church.
