Claudia Elizabeth Baker, 89, died September 12, 2011 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. She was born to the late James Claude Pearson and Ora Griffith Pearson on April 2, 1922 in Demopolis, Alabama. She graduated from Linden High School, Linden, Alabama, and attended Livingston College (University). She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Clinton and the Fellowship Class.

Claudia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be remembered as a sweet and loving person.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Fletcher Baker of Clinton; daughter, Nena Elizabeth Baker of Jackson; son, Daniel Morgan Baker, Sr. (Kathy) of Jackson; and grandchildren, Daniel Morgan, Jr., Katherine Elizabeth, Olivia Anne and Eleanor Jane Baker of Jackson. She also leaves her brother, James W. Pearson of Demopolis, Alabama and sister, Annie Ruth Haggard of Enterprise, Alabama, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by, her sisters, Ira Belle Tucker of Jackson, Tennessee and Margaret Pearson Coats of Linden, Alabama; and step-father, Thomas P. Barnett of Demopolis, Alabama.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Boulevard and Thursday, September 15, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Clinton, Mississippi, followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 100 Mt. Salus Road, Clinton, MS 39056, or Community Animal Rescue League (CARA), 960 N. Flag Chapel Rd., Jackson, MS 39209.
