Raymond Charles “Ray” Smith

Raymond Charles “Ray” Smith, 43, of Demopolis died Friday, Sept. 16 at his home. He was born Jan. 26, 1968 in Birmingham. He was employed with Rock Tenn Paper Mill and was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Linden.

He is survived by his wife Becky Duke Smith of Demopolis, father Charles Edward (Doris) Smith of Gordo, mother Lois Parten (Charles) Lambrecht of Linden, step brother Bob (Delia) Collins of Auburn, sister Jenny (Ken) Houlditch of Linden, step sister Robin Collins of Tuscaloosa and nephews Marshall Duke, Daniel Duke, Jake Houlditch and Landon Houlditch.

Funeral services were held at Cornerstone Church on Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Rob Wynne and Dr. Randy Creel officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Gordo.

Active Pallbearers were Timothy “Bubba” Wilson, Jeremy Smith, Marcus Parten, Andy Cannon, Troy McPherson and Larry Lewis.

Honorary Pallbearers were the members of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, Marengo County Rescue Squad, Cornerstone Church Youth and Children, Employees of Rock Tenn Paper Mill, Dr. Keith Dismukes, Dr. Paul Ketcham, Laurie Anne Cameron, Tara Sealy, Sheila Adams and Southern Care Hospice.

Memorials may be made to the Youth and Children’s Fund at Cornerstone Church, P.O. Box 480681, Linden, AL 36748 or to the Hope Lodge in Birmingham, AL.
