LaVonne “Jimmy” Luker, 78, of Demopolis, passed away Nov. 1 at Southland Nursing Home in Marion.

She was born Jan. 25, 1933 in Sioux Falls, S.D. to the late George Harry and Viola Marie Olmstead Nichols Speights.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Grover Hilton Luker; son, Mike Luker, Sister, Betty Mayton and one brother who passed during childbirth.

Survivors include daughters, Becky Fowler (Houston), of Demopolis, Barbara Turner (David), of Demopolis and Dian Luker and her fiance Steve Fain of Cleveland, Ga.; grandchildren, Jonathan Knight (Jennifer), of Demopolis, John H. Brister (Jan) of Chochran, Ga., Rachel Potts of Ashville, Ala. and Debra Combs (Chris) of Demopolis and a number of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held Thursday, November 3 at 1 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Homes in Demopolis Chapel with Rev. Richard Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Aimwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be Cleveland Cole, Earl Stephens, the staff of Southland Nursing Home and Dr. Shane Lee of Marion.
