DMS basketball sweeps Livingston

Demopolis Middle School basketball opened its home schedule with a trio of victories over Livingston Junior High School Thursday night.

Jesse Bell’s seventh grade boys tipped off the night with an 18-15 win over the Livingston seventh graders.

Hunter Colyar led the seventh graders with six points in the contest. Xavier McShan, Gregory Brown and Jacob Browder each added four points in the game.

Coty Geohagan’s girls team followed with a dominating performance that ended in a 45-19 victory.

The DMS ladies outpaced Livingston 16-6 in the opening quarter and extended the lead to 27-9 by halftime. The squad allowed a total of 10 points in the second half en route to the victory.

Tierra Turner and Ivory Moore each scored 12 points to lead the Demopolis team while DeeDee White had 11. Jessica Adams finished with five points on the night.

Bell returned to the sidelines for the third game of the night, leading the eighth grade boys to a 64-40 wn over Livingston. Demopolis ended the first quarter with an 18-13 lead and never trailed again, allowing only five points in the fourth quarter to close out the win.

Jayjerrin Craig led Demopolis with 24 points. Anthony Collier added 17 while Rahmeel Cook had 10 points. Jamarcus Ezell contributed nine points while Marcus Wright and Keishawn Scott each had two.

The middle school teams will play at home again Monday night when t hey host Thomasville.
