Richard James Porrill of Birmingham, was born in Toronto, Canada on October 22, 1940. His family moved to Demopolis, AL when he was five years old and he was forever tied to Alabama. He earned his Eagle Scout Badge prior to graduating Demopolis High School and Livingston State College. He served in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1966 and had a successful career in sales and management that took him and his family across the United States. He returned to Birmingham managing his own company until he retired. He is survived by his wife, Linda W. Porrill of Birmingham; son, Damon W. Porrill (Sabrina) of Birmingham, son, Theron W. Porrill of Los Angeles, California; and three grandchildren, Olivia Grace Porrill, Sophia Lenore Porrill, and Parker Gunnin Porrill all of Birmingham. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Ridout?s Elmwood Chapel from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Elmwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
