Kathryn Ballas Smith, 89, of Linden died Jan. 2 at UAB Hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Miami, Fla. She was a former payroll clerk and a member of Linden United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Barry) Hunt of Linden, son, Lee Ballas Smith of Dallas, Texas, granddaughter Kathy (Lee) Pritchett of Demopolis, two great grandchildren, Trey and Jack Pritchett of Demopolis, two brothers, Jack Ballas of Dallas, Texas and Charles BAllas of Linden, sister Daphne Glaser of Demopolis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Linden United Methodist Church on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ray Bass and Rev. Ed Shirley officiating. Burial was at Linden Memorial Park.

Active Pallbearers were Charles Singleton, Toby Henderson, Eddie Ballas, Ronney McClinton, Josh Wilson and Mike Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers were members of The John Vickers’ Sunday School Class.
