Former Demopolis Middle School head football and baseball coach Daniel Flowers has accepted the position of head coach at Southside High School in Selma.

The Dallas County School Board approved the hire Monday night, officially naming him Southside’s new coach.

Southside High School principal Clarence Jackson contacted Flowers about the opening about a month ago

“Mr. Jackson hired me in Demopolis,” Flowers said, “and he called me about a month ago with a possible head coach opening at Southside. I couldn’t turn it down.”

Flowers played high school football at Northview High School in Dothan and played college football at Alabama State University.

After his playing career, he served as an assistant at Alabama State University, Northview, Demopolis High School, and served as head football and baseball coach at Demopolis Middle School.

Flowers said he is thankful for the opportunity to take charge of the program and for the trust that the school board has in him.
