Demopolis Police Department launched a free communications service that allows area residents to receive important, valuable community information directly to their cell phone or email.
The Nixle Community Information Service allows DPD to create and publish messages to be delivered to subscribed residents instantly once residents subscribe online at Nixle’s web site at www.nixle.com.
Messages may include weather, crime, and missing person alerts as well as other relevant safety and community event information.
“I think it is important for residents to use this service to stay informed about things going on in the area,” DPD Chief Tommie Reese said.
He said if the department has some information it will send the message out through the program, including updates about the weather or crime.
“Not everyone can be glued to the TV set all the time,” he said. “This way if you need to know something the information will come to your phone.”
