Edward Holmes Agee

Edward Holmes Agee, 86, of Dixons Mills, died Sunday, Sept. 9 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Suringer.
Mr. Agee was a former storeroom clerk with James River Corp. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar J. and Mary L. Agee; his brother, Verbee Agee; his sister, Maggie Lou Day; and his nephew, Jack Day.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Barkley Agee of Dixons Mills; four daughters, Katherine (Buddy) Crow of Thomasville, Linda (Larry) Grant of Sweet Water, Debra (Sammie) Rivers of Gulfport, Miss., and Synthia Tucker of Helena; two nieces, Mary Ellen Parten of Thomasville and Jerry Ann Little of Thomasville; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Gandy, the Rev. Harry Giles and Brett Green officiating. Burial was at Wesley Chapel UMC Cemetery in Dixons Mills.
Pallbearers were Tuffy Atkins, Allen Dailey, Sheldon Day, Rube Lewis, Doug Smith and Will Stebbins. Honorary pallbearers were friends and staff at Country Oaks Assisted Living and the C – Shift at James River Paper Mill.
