First Presbyterian Church in Demopolis will host its fourth Puddle Jumper’s children’s consignment sale this Saturday to provide area residents children’s items at a discounted price.

The regular sale is in the fellowship hall of the church from 8 a.m. to noon and from noon to 1 p.m. is the half-off sale.

“Children outgrow things so quickly. You may have 10 outfits in one size and then months later they have grown,” Kami Basinger, chair of the event said. “This gives people who need items the chance to buy and those who want to get rid of items the chance to do so.”

Pending the decision of the consigners, the items left after the sale will be donated to area charities such as Harriet’s House, Sav-A-Life or The Bargain Box.

“We have some people who participate that say they don’t want anything back, then we take those items and donate them,” she said.

Customers who plan to attend the sale can expect items such as cribs, furniture, changing stations, bouncers, toys and a host of other things.

The consigners became a part of the sale by filling out an application with the church and then they tag their own items to determine the price.

“There are a lot of sales similar to this in surrounding areas such as Tuscaloosa and Meridan, so we wanted to bring this service to our people here,” she said.

The maximum number of consigners the church typically handles is about 50 people and the church expects to have about 30-40 people participate in this sale.

A majority of the money raised from the sale goes to support the sale with things such as advertising, but any additional funds will go to the children’s fund at the church.

“It is a great way for the people here to take advantage of some great prices,” Basinger said.

Cash will be the only form of payment accepted at the sale.
