Demopolis High School’s softball and basketball teams received donations through Aaron’s Community Outreach Program on Thursday afternoon.

Each team received a $1,000 check donation from Aaron’s to go toward their equipment and other expenses. This is the second year that Aaron’s has donated to the high school. Kyle Razee and Connie Burdett represented Aaron’s at the check presentations.

Softball head coach Joey Browder said the donation is greatly appreciated.

“It’s a huge donation for the program,” he said. “It helps fund our year. With last year’s donation, we were able to add a weight room to our softball facility and make some improvements to the field. Every bit of it goes to the girls and this program.”

Razee said it means a lot for Aaron’s to be part of the community.

“We do this through the Aaron’s Community Outreach Program and it means a lot for us to be a part of the community,” he said. “We want to do what we can to help the community.”

Demopolis basketball coach Rodney Jackson said the donation goes a long way for his program.

“We are self-sufficient, so we have to pay for our uniforms and travel,” he said. “This will help us do that. I’ve bought practice uniforms with this in the past. I just want to thank Aaron’s for everything they do for us and the community.”
